Savory ground beef cooked in a sweet-salty Asian sauce and served in crisp lettuce cups for a quick, fresh, and flavorful meal or appetizer.
1 lb ground beef
1 tbsp oil
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tsp sesame oil
½ cup diced water chestnuts
2 green onions, chopped
1 head butter or Bibb lettuce, leaves separated and washed
Optional: shredded carrots, chopped peanuts, sriracha, cilantro
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, cook 30 seconds.
Add ground beef, cook until browned and cooked through. Drain if needed.
Stir in soy sauce, hoisin, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Simmer 2–3 minutes.
Add water chestnuts and green onions. Cook 1 more minute.
Spoon into lettuce leaves and top with desired garnishes. Serve immediately.
For a vegetarian version, substitute tofu or mushrooms.
For meal prep, store beef filling separately and assemble wraps fresh.
Add rice or noodles for a more filling meal.
