Savory ground beef cooked in a sweet-salty Asian sauce and served in crisp lettuce cups for a quick, fresh, and flavorful meal or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • ½ cup diced water chestnuts

  • 2 green onions, chopped

  • 1 head butter or Bibb lettuce, leaves separated and washed

  • Optional: shredded carrots, chopped peanuts, sriracha, cilantro

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, cook 30 seconds.

  • Add ground beef, cook until browned and cooked through. Drain if needed.

  • Stir in soy sauce, hoisin, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Simmer 2–3 minutes.

  • Add water chestnuts and green onions. Cook 1 more minute.

  • Spoon into lettuce leaves and top with desired garnishes. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute tofu or mushrooms.

  • For meal prep, store beef filling separately and assemble wraps fresh.

  • Add rice or noodles for a more filling meal.
